The best part about this place is the outdoor patio directly across the street from Lake Detroit. It's a fun bar and a very casual environment. I would have given it five stars, except they don't serve food late enough. I tried to go here once for dinner pretty late, and the waitress said we could order food, but then reneged. All in all, I will definitely be going back for drinks next time I am in town.

I can only imagine this place in summer! Right across from the lake, great deck and killer view. Even in winter it was fun and we were watching all the ppl ice fishing on the frozen water. 2 for 1 big ass steins of beer, kitchy type atmosphere, down to earth locals and hella fine waitstaff, Hi Kayla ;) Came here after a failed day on the slopes and to kick back. Beers were great, food was more on the mehh side but hey, its bar food. Onion rings were good but the chili tasted like Hormel out of a can. No ample cheese or extra spices to liven it up. The wings were oh so typical too but I guess my friends and I have truly been spoiled with trying varieties of amazing wings over the past year. Either way it wouldnt stop me from coming back and trying something else. The ambiance and vibe alone is so welcoming and chill that I've already started mental planning my return summer trip !

We are traveling in our RV with our dog and thought this would be a nice place to stop for lunch and walk the pup, but no it wasn't. No dogs, cats or alcohol allowed in and public place... period. I get it.... sometimes. So we left the pup in the RV and went in for a bite. I ordered the Taco salad and it was terrible, old stinky lettuce, really bad. The reason I'm giving this 2 stars is that it looked like the burgers were pretty good, so maybe it's just the greens? My final pet peeve is the use of plastic throw away containers for salsa and salad dressings. If you must wash dishes why not have containers for the dressings that go in the dishwasher? Seems wasteful to me. Is it just me? At least there was a view of the lake. The politics about pets are over the top.

Great place on the lake. Wonderful views, great atmosphere... everything you'd expect from a destination summer Bar & Restaurant. My girlfriend and I come here nearly every time were in the area visiting my family. Last summer, we were able to watch a rally car race right from their deck, with a beer in hand. Great times!

Pizza with the simone crust is among the best pizzas I've ever had. It was pricey but worth it., Sports bar/restaurant met my expectations. Service was good and I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

This is still a good bet for the winter months (seeing as how most of the reviews are during the summer season). This place was packed for a Thursday night and service was a tad slow. They have a nice beer selection and my burger was very good. I would definitely go back.

This is a place for both the locals and the tourists in Detroit Lakes. While it certainly looks like a casual sports bar, its ideal location across from Lake Detroit and its amazing food makes it worth five stars. The pizza is always great, fresh, and cooked to order (which is why it sometimes can take 20+ minutes if there are other pizzas in the cue.) The wait is never a mind, because you can sit outside on the patio and enjoy the view with an ice cold something. In addition to pizza, Lakeside has great burgers with toppings and flavors not usually found outside of big cities. However, my favorite part of Lakeside is their hotdogs, try the chili-cheese dog, you'll be absolutely stuffed!

This place seems to be the destination for summer holiday. Everything seems to be patio seating oriented, but they still have nice bar nonetheless. Their King Kong burger is huge and tasty. Nice cold beer and a great view of the detroit lakes. Service is good and I personally like it better than zorbaz..

I didn't have high hopes stepping into this spot, but my expectations were totally blown out the door. My husband immediately liked the joint because of the multitude of TVs showing the Twins vs. Orioles game, but I judge more on food than ambiance (the ambiance of the Lakeside Tavern is most definitely casual "sports bar"...and I mean that in the best possible way). The food didn't look like much based on the menu, but I was in for a treat. Our pizza, a Sonoma (chicken, artichoke + sundried tomato) with the Roma base, was just phenomenal! The pizza wasn't just good for Detroit Lakes, or for restaurants up north, it is a full-fledged, fantastic, tasty pizza. The ingredients were very fresh and the crust was incredible. It even came with honey to eat with the super tasty crust. I don't even like crust. But this crust is an exception. The waiters and waitresses were all kind, accommodating and quick. Forget Zorbaz, this is the real deal for lake-front eating. We'll definitely be back.

While visiting for a wedding, we ate a late lunch here. The location is beautiful - lots of tables looking (across the street and) over the water. The tall beers were nice and big, and the food was decent but pretty pricey. Our waitress, however, was almost apathetic. She couldn't give us food or beer recommendations, and answered questions with mutters. Oh well, okay overall.

Sitting out on the patio with one of the fine selection of beers and a Roma Sonoma pizza while watching the people go by on the city beach is about as good as it gets. The rest of the year, inside with a burger or a quesadilla is also fun. Some of the other menu items can be fantastic but there has been a little inconsistency in some. But the pizzas and burgers are always right on. If Zorbaz isn't happening, everyone might be here. And vice versa.
